My Lil' Wani's 1st Birthday

Salam.. salam... selamat hari raya...

Hehehe.. punya soo.... loongg... since my last posting... Just wanna share you some cakes... from my little Wani's first birthday celebrated a couple of months ago.. on 3rd August.

We celcebrated the birthday 1 day earlier on Aug 2nd, Sunday at McDonalds Api-Api Centre. I managed to bake a moist chocolate cake with Winnie the Pooh theme.

In addition, some cuppies with same theme...

Then, on Monday morning, Aug 3rd, I sent this cake to Taska Permaisuria, for Wani to cut and celebrate with her friends..

Later on that afternoon, we, my hubby and Wani went to Hjh Kusnah home, an Aunt at Likas. We bring this cake for her daughter Ika, 8, who shared same birthday date with Wani.

So, that were the cakes I baked on Wani's birthday. In fact, they were just moist chocolate with simple decoration, but, the feeling the matter hehe... for my Wani 1st birthday... hehe..

Danial's Birthday and Puchee the cat...

Salam...

I received an email from Hasalinda @ Noy request for a cake with cat figurine made from fondant. Noy is actually twin sister to Rosalinda @ Linda, that I baked a cake with Little Pony figurine for her daughter a couple of month ago.

Noy is going to celebrate her son, Danial's 10th birthday and wanted to have his Puchee cat figurine on top of the cake. Noy also sent me this pictures for my reference.

...yes... that's Puchee, Danial's cat...

I have to admit that it wasn't easy for me to imitate Puchee, I tried my best to do as similar as I can, but the result turns to different look of Puchee.... :<

Aniversary cake for Ruby from Tebobon on 19th July ... A 1-kg chocolate moist cake covered with fondant decoration. Happy belated Wedding Anniversary ya Ruby... 18 years... Emm... Boleh tahan.... I am sure you had a lots of love ... Semoga berbahagia selalu...

This one pula, especially made for my sister, Ucu, on her birthday on July 17th. A box of 6-pieces chocolate moist cuppies.

Allysa 7th Bday: My Little Pony and Disney's Princesses Cake

Welcome to Saiyaz's Cakes Collection...

These cakes with theme "Unicorn / My LIttle Pony" and "Disney's Princesses" are newly added to my collection. Just baked them last nite for Linda's dotter Allysa 7th birthday today, June 24.

She ordered 2 types of cake, one is a 3-kg chocolate moist with Disney's Princesses edible / icing image to be cut at the school. Another one is a kg vanilla sponge cake with fresh cream and decorated with unicorn, the little pony made of fondant. The second one is to be cut at home.

My memory flashed back, a year ago, same date , Linda ordered me these cakes and cuppies... ice cream cone sponge cake, chocolate moist with Barbie image and some character cupppies... for Allysa 6th birthday...

This morning, I met Linda for second time when I delivered the cakes to her house at Sempelang, Sembulan. Thanks Linda for your repeat order... till we meet again.. same time next year?... Hehehe... InsyaAllah... klu ku masih meniaga kueh ni.... hehehe...

Father's Day Cakes and Cupcakes

Assalammualaikum and Salam Sejahtera...

First of all, I would like to wish “Happy Father’s Day” to all fathers out there, in conjunction to Father’s Day celebrated on Sunday, June 21st.

Secondly, I would like to share with you the cakes and cupcakes that I baked on that special day….

60 pieces cupcakes ordered by Ruby from Tebobon. They are butter cupcakes with orange and chocolate flavor.

She also ordered 1.5kg of carrot cheese cake. The cake is carrot cake with walnut, and the frosting and decoration made of cream cheese. Thanks Ruby...

Furthermore, we had a kenduri tahlil for my late father so I baked some cuppies and a carrot cheese cake for that ceremony.

What's more, on Sunday night, we (my niece Idah and I) have decorated another carrot cheese cake just for makan-makan. Idah stayed with us on that weekend, to accompany me and my baby Wani, since hubby had to work overtime since last week.

Last but not least, once more, Happy Father’s Day… Happy Dad’s Day… Selamat Hari Bapa…

There was a majlis cukur rambut for my cousin’s newborn baby, last Sunday. So I baked some cupcakes for that majlis.

A Busy Weekend

It was a busy week I had last weekend. In fact, it was Umie's wedding, a cousin of my hubby. I had promised her mother to bake some carrot cheese cakes for that wedding. Luckily, one of hubby’s nieces, Idah, was very kind to stay at my home so she can help me at the kitchen and look after my baby Wani.

On Friday night, we managed to bake about 4 kg of carrot cheese plus 3 kilogram of moist chocolate cakes.

While on Saturday night, I baked another 2 chocolate moist cakes (unfortunately, Idah had to stay at the bride’s house). I only do the baking not the decoration.

Idah told me before that she really wanted to learn decorate cake using fondant. So, that was our activity after the wedding that Sunday’s afternoon. I let Idah to do the decoration on her own, and I only teach and show a little coz I still need to look after my baby Wani. The result was not bad, even though she used so much fondant, so the cover and frill were quite thick. (isshh... sayang my fondant... hehehe... )

Lastly, on Sunday night, I decorate another chocolate cake. This one ordered by Ekie, for opening ceremony of her friend’s Tupperware new shop at Alamesra.

Opps.. one more thing, I would like to wish the bride, Umie, and her husband Saiful, Selamat Pengantin Baru. Semoga berbahagia sepanjang hayat, Amin…

Naruto and Spiderman Cakes

Salam...

Have baked both of the chocolate cakes last week. One Naruto and one Spiderman. Both for my best friends.

Naruto cake ordered by Fordiah @ Didie, my bestfriend since kindergarten (yes... until now...) The cake was for her sons' birthday, Hairee and Nazrul.

While Spiderman cake ordered by Norliza @ Ekie, a best friend from ITM (now UiTM). The cake for her dotter and son's birthday, Asnor Nasha and Asnoriman Danish.

Well, friends... Cam biasalah... Thank you for ordering k...

Hi There.. I am not into blogging mood lately and have few cakes pictures yet to publish. Just a short entry for this time, pictures of fondant and gumpaste cake and cupcakes I made when I was attending a fondant course a couple of months ago.

Basic fondant : have learnt making hand-made fondant, covering a cake with fondant, frill (fabric effect ), make flower, ribbon and butterflies from gumpaste / sugarpaste.

It's been tooooo loooong since my previous posting... have to refuse few cake order lately, because hubby has to work overtime since months ago... so.. left me with my baby 8-month old Baby Wani...

But.. ada juga lah... I did bake some cupcakes... wanna share with you... these nda' seberapa cuppies...

Butter cupcakes with buttercream with Pinkish theme for Rnita from Penampang, for her daughter birthday, Nurul... about 3 weeks ago, Apr 1st...

Then I got some extra cuppies, so I just decorate with this flag-sticker decoration... Saja-saja buat.. (psstt... wanna learn how to make that stickers?... I am going to post them in my "Saiyaz's Design" blog soon... check it out!)

Then, last week, baked these 50 pieces super-mini cuppies, for Rubiah from Tebobon.. mied chocolate and vanilla flavour, with buttercream deco.

Then, got some extra cuppies, for hubby's friends at work...

Disney's Princess Cupcakes

Salam to all...

These cupcakes with Disney's princesses faces and crowns are baked for Emmy, (daughter to Mariani’s friend) on her 6th birthday on Monday, March 2nd.

In fact, last weekend, we have balik kampung to hubby's village at Pimping, Membakut on Saturday morning, and only returned to town on Sunday noon. I then spent hours in the afternoon baking and decorating these 60 pieces of butter cupcakes. My first attempt in decorating cupcakes with Disney’s princesses theme and I wish I could decorate better than these if I was not in that hurry.

Whatever it is... here is the result...

I baked some moist chocolate cakes and cupcakes on the recent Valentine's Day, February 14th....

Not all cakes for valentine's purpose actually... There was some occasion celebrated on that date. Like Sis Fauziah and Tipah, they both ordered 2 pieces of 500gm cakes for makan-makan during the weekend, while my neighbour Linda, had her wedding anniversary on Feb 14th. Hubby's boss, Mr. G celebrated his daughter's 13th birthday on that day too. In addition, I also baked some extra cuppies for my sisters.

Salam and hi there...

It was very crazy, busy weeks for me because of year end closing of company’s account. The submission of management account was December 30th, with 4th quarter listing latest by Jan 2nd. To make things worse, the auditor came in the following week, Jan 6th. Then my No-Life daily routine started. Need to stay back at the office almost every day... until last Friday, Jan 23rd, when our draft audit account finalised. The draft then passed to Admin to be used in preparing one of the board paper as the next board meeting scheduled on Jan 30th. It’s not 100% final actually, but…Phew!!!....

See.. That’s why I am not doing any posting for weeks… That's why I have to refuse someone's cupcakes order. But then, Syukur… it’s over now… Syukur…. Now I can continue baking and blogging…

I have some cupcakes and cakes pictures to share with you.

Part 1: Car Cupcakes for Mariani’s son, Arif.

I baked these cupcakes three weeks ago. They are butter cupcakes with vanilla and chocolate flavor.

Mariani also requested some cupcakes with chocolate chips. First time decorate like this, I would like to name this deco as 'Chips garden'. I used chocolate and twin chocolate chips.

Part 2: Caution! It's Moist, Moist Chocolate...

2 weeks ago, we had a kenduri arwah at my mom’s house. I baked moist chocolate cakes and cupcakes for that kenduri.

and moist chocolate cupcakes as one of the door gift for the guests.

Meanwhile, these Sponge Bob and Spiderman cupcakes for Mariani’s sister. They are moist chocolate too...

In fact, she also asked me for car cupcakes again, but, I got to cancel it. To Mariani, (if u read this) I am really sorry for that… Hope I can bake some car cupcakes for Arif next time ok…

(P.s: to my colleague, Anies n Momoi, FYI, the auditor called me on Saturday, telling me that there’s another additional outstanding in the draft audited account. Just a short posting on the cake ...

1.5 kg carrot cheese cake for a Chinese fellow, Ms. Goh. Actually, she is my hubby’s boss.

Another 1.5kg was for me and my sister. Just for makan-makan that long weekend.

½ (about 700 gm) for my sis and another ½ was for me.

Back to School Cupcakes for my nieces and nephews

Salam…

I baked more than 100 pieces cupcakes on Friday night. 80 pieces of it was for Queenniey engagement party, and I got extra cuppies, which I don’t have any idea at all on what to decorate, and for whom to serve. TOO lazy to think, because I was TOO tired after one night long doing the cupcakes for Queenniey.

Then, on Saturday afternoon…When I was about to pay my nasi tapau at a restaurant, I heard someone call my name. “Aunty Yah… Aunty Yah…” That’s my popular name among my nieces and nephews. I search for the voice and saw my sister together with her 2 kids having meals at the far corner of the restaurant. I came to their table as soon as I settled my bill.

“Aik… Sini pula kamu… Dari mana pula?" I asked them… “Ni lah… bawa si abang (my nephew) ni gunting rambut… Esok lusa kan mo buka school…" My sister answered me while the kids smiling. I look at the mentioned Abang, with his new haircut… Obviously can see his long smile… perasanlah tu…

NAAH KAANNN... Kebetulan betulll... Got an idea already…

Cupcakes for Engagement Again

Hi there... Salam sejahtera ....

Last night, I baked these cupcakes for Queenniey's engagement party. In fact, her engagement dinner has been held on 1st January, but tonight is the second round party for her friends.

Here they are... 80 pieces of Chocolate flavour butter cupcakes with butter cream topping. Queenniey chose mix rosettes and heart theme in white, pink and red color.

Wish you a Happy New Year 2009! A new year, new you, new me... everything new... New year in Islamic calendar too... Year 1430 Hijrah started on 29th December, just few days before 2009.

I baked 2 blueberry sponge cakes last night. One ordered by my older sister while another one for hubby's friends. They are still working overtime... So boring... He works on the holiday, left baby Wani and me! Hopefully he will not work tomorrow night as I have to bake 80 pieces of cupcakes for Queeniey's engagement party... Hopefully!!!

Black Forest Cake

Salam and hi everyone...

Christmas just passed a couple of days ago, and New Year is coming in another couple of days. But this cake baked neither for Christmas or New Year celebration. I just bake this for makan-makan.

My first attempt on this type of cake. The result not exactly like I saw in the picture, there are things to improve like the chocolate sponge cake and the filling (black cherries).

I baked about 2 kg weight...

I will try again next time, for sure...

Distribute some slices to my sisters, neighbours, and hubby's colleagues.

I hope they like it...

I would like to wish A Merry Christmas for those who celebrate christmas out there. Wish you a wonderful, joyfull day!

I got one cake order from a friend on the christmas eve, but since she informed me last minute, and I have no baking mood at that time, so I rejected the order... so I didn't bake any cake... but, I am actually really really wanted to bake... so I felt regret... So I wish I haven't rejected that order... So I wish there's something I can do about it...

So in the early Saturday morning, I baked these muffin for our breakfast... just for makan-makan... and for hubby to bring to work...

Carrot Cheese Cake Again... this time for Hari Raya Aidil Adha

First of all, I would like to wish to all muslim out there, Selamat Hari Raya Eid-ulAdha.

Secondly... It's baking time again... with carrot cheese some more... this time for Hari Raya. I baked these cakes just now, and wanted to blog them immediately, because we are going to balik kampung by early morning. In fact, hubby has to work overtime on monday afternoon, but we radu saja.. kasi sempat, eventhough for 1 night only.

Since we jarang-jarang sudah balik kampung lately, so I baked these cakes for my in-laws there.

Carrot Cheese Cake Again

My regular customer, Kak Aishah asked me to bake a carrot cake a couple of week ago. She wanted the cake on Friday, last week. She has asked me few times. “Tengoklah kak… ada susah sikit kalau time kerja ni. Lainlah kalau weekend…” I dare not to confirm.

I’ve been busy last week. Load of works at the office. My spare time with family is only at night. It's my precious time with my baby Wani. Hubby had to work overtime last week. Work as usual from 8 to 5, and then continue with overtime until midnight.

Until last Thursday in the afternoon, I texted her. “Bah Kak… Apa mau tulis di kek esok tu? Malam ni lah aku buat.

It has been a couple of week since my previous posting. Quite busy lately, so I had to reject some order. I only do my baking on the weekend, but will also take for weekdays, if confirmed early.

Here are 2 moist chocolate cakes; I baked last week on Wednesday. One cake for my mother’s birthday, while the other one is for my friend Ekie.

… For my mother’s birthday, coincidently, her birthday just a few days before her partner’s, so we decided to dedicate the cake for both of them. (I am going to post more stories on the birthday in my other blogspot soon.)

Moist Chocolate Cake for Hari Raya Open House

Salam Aidilfitri...

Am I too late? According to Hijrah calendar, we are still in Syawal month until 29 Syawal/ 29 October. Today is October 28... Another 2 more days to go... hehehe... In fact, I went to a friend's house yesterday for her Hari Raya Open House... Still can feel the Raya mood there...

You know what, for those who are working and living in town or city area, it is not about choosing one day out of 29 days for their open house, but to choose one fine day out of only 4 times weekends.

There's another Raya Open House on Sunday, Oct 27 at my friend, Ekie's house at PutraJaya, Telipok. She invited me, and I was excited to go, but then, because of non-stop raining that day, I can't make it. She ordered a moist chocolate cake, a simple one. In fact, she requested for a plain chocolate cake, without the creams, but, I just can't stop my hands from making some butter creams for the decoration. (Sorry Ekie... Dasar nda' mendengar kata pelanggan bah ni... hehehe... but, hey... at no extra charge bah...)

So now, once again... Selamat Hari Raya to all Muslim friends out there...

My dear sister-in-law, Kak Midah phoned me yesterday afternoon. She asked me to bake a chocolate cake for her 7-year old daughter, Nurin. She wanted the cake to be ready by night, because Nurin wanted to bring to school by early morning. Oh my God! What a short-notice! I was not sure can do it or not. I tried to refuse. But...

Here's the story... that morning... Nurin told her dear friends at school that she wanna celebrate her birthday tomorrow... She already told her dear friends that she wanna bring a cake tomorrow... But... she only told her dear Abah and Umi on that late afternoon. And now, that dear parent are pening-pening already.

Oh... My dear little niece... Nurin.

There we go... We arrived home at about 7.30 p.m. after picked up our dear baby Wani. I was quickly rushing to the kitchen while hubby looking after our baby. I tried as fast as I can. By 9.00 pm, Kak Midah and Abang Yussof arrived (they just came from supermarket, bought some goodies to give to Nurin's friends). But, the cake is not ready. The cake is just came out hot from the oven. The cake need time to cool down before put melted chocolate. Even the chocolate also need time before decorate with butter cream. Luckily I have Barbie, Mickey Mouse, Disney Princess, and some other cartoon image in stock. Kak Midah chose princess image, then, I just need to put some butter cream to complete the decoration. I was decorating the cake, while Kak Midah preparing and packing the birthday goodies, for Nurin's friends, 50 bags in total. While my hubby and abang Yussof having chit-chat while watching TV... While our baby Wani sleeping... She was not meragam during my baking. Thanks anak... good girl... anak ibu...

At last... the cake has done minutes before 11 p.m.. It was a 2-kg moist-chocolate cake with simple design done within few hours, the fastest that I can. They left my house around 11. I then took my late night shower few minutes later.

Oh... My dear little niece... Nurin. Happy 7th birthday... Have a nice, wonderful birthday... Share and enjoy your big day with your dear friends...

Superhero Cupcakes: Spiderman and Ultraman

Superheros! There are so many of them nowadays. Superman, spiderman, ultraman, Batman, etc. etc. There are so many of +man and superheros in tv program these days... I can't name all of them.. I can't even know some of them...

But I still remember this one... long time ago... In my time... I love to watch Ultraman, and one called Gaban... can still watch Ultraman today, but no more Gaban :(

My memory flashed back... back to years ago... while decorating these cupcakes yesterday... Ultraman and Spidey cupcakes...

I have attended few majlis berbuka puasa during few weeks ago, and this one is the last one, I guess.

It's been a month ago since my last posting. Quite busy with my newborn baby Wani. (click here, to my other blog for my Baby Wani pictures). She is about 1 month and 2 weeks old now. I didn't take any order for cake since then, and during this fasting month, except for a few cakes for my close friends and family.

This Spiderman cake is one of them. I baked on the very first week of Ramadhan. It was for Fani 9th birthday. The cake ordered by my sister's close friend. She is my repeat/regular customer. Hi there... I baked 2 moist chocolate cakes last night, both with cartoon theme. The cakes are decorated with Doraemon and Naruto image.

The cake with Doraemon image is actually a moist chocolate cake. I cut the cake into 2, and put chocolate in between, before I cover the cake with butter cream decoration. The cake ordered by my older sister, Fauziah. My older sister wanted to surprise my younger sister, on her birthday today.

The other cake with Naruto image is also moist chocolate cake with chocolate topping. This cake is order by my sister's friend, to be given to her son, Zadi, I guess.

Do you know what? Both cakes have features in common... both chocolate cakes... both with cartoon images… both in 1 kilogram in weight, and both ordered by my sisters...

Confusing?

Ok... Here is the summary... While my sister, Ucu, ask me to bake a Naruto cake for her friend, in the same time, my older sister, Fauziah, ask me to bake a Doraemon cake for Mak Ucu, secretly... Hehehe...

Carrot Cheese Cake

I baked a carrot cheese cake last night especially for Momoi, the author of Nadyne Ashika. In fact, her birthday was already passed last Thursday. I was thinking to buy something, a present to give to her, but have no time to shopping out. In addition, she is leaving the country by tomorrow for a family vacation, and will only come back a couple of weeks later. Well... instead of buy something that I don’t have any idea at all on what to give; I baked this carrot cake with cream cheese topping. Momoi loves carrot and cheese cake so much, that’s why I baked this cake.

Dear Momoi, I have a list of wishes for you:-

Cartoon Birthday Cakes: Iman (& Ben 10) and Amin (& Shin Chan)

Hi... This is the story of Iman, 7, and his 1 year old brother, Amin. Iman is going to celebrate his 7th birthday, and wanted his cake with his favorite cartoon, Ben 10. While his little brother Amin, who his birthday fall in the very same month, will also get birthday cake with image of Shin Chan cartoon. Just like his Shin Chan doll. The mother, Rohaya snaps his doll and emails me the picture.

Quite challenging job for me, because I am not so good in drawing. Here is the output :(

Cupcakes project: Flower cupcakes

It has been a week since my last posting. I am still live and baking in fact, hehehe... I have baked some cakes and cupcakes during previous weekend, and will try to post them by types. My first project is cupcakes project. Story begins when I baked 200 pieces cupcakes for Bem-bem 17th birthday party last week (too bad, because I was in very critical situation, rushing in finishing them, then I forgot to take pictures). That's a lot of number for me, 200 pieces. Bem-Bem is my new customer, who wanted to celebrate her birthday with cupcakes instead of birthday cake. If not by help from my sister, the cupcakes won’t be done. My sister and I were worked hard over night... until the next morning. We both don't sleep that night. But, thank God, the project accomplished and done that morning...
Well... the story of that cupcakes doesn't stop there... a day after Bem-Bem birthday party, she told me that her family wanted to order 350 pieces cupcakes for their full moon kenduri for their newborn baby. They wanted about 300 pieces to distribute as a door gift and another 50 pieces for themselves. I tried to refuse, but they try to persuade me, and then... after few discussions, and change to simple design, then I agreed on their request. Here are the cupcakes:

350 pieces, what a number! With that quantity, the credit should be given to my sister for her hand, and also to my hubby for his understanding...

Emm.. father's day already passed a few weeks ago... Musykil.. Musykil... I wanted to ask June about that, but then, I change my mind... busy body or what! Whatever...

But, my curiosity remains, while I was baking and decorating the cakes, I was still thinking about it. Emm.. well.. why not kan? After all, it just passed a couple of week ago, there must be a reason, why someone wants to celebrate it a bit late.. There are hundreds possibilities... Maybe they don't have chance to celebrate it that day, or maybe the daddy just came back from long outsation, or for other reasons, who knows?

A Chocolate Cheese Cake for Anniversary

This cake for Kak Aishah's son, who is going to celebrate his 2nd year wedding anniversary today. He wanted to surprise his wife. He wanted a cheesecake, because both of them love cheesecake so much. They used to order my blueberry cheese cakes last time, twice. For this time round, I suggest him to celebrate this special day with a chocolate flavour cheesecake. So, here is the cake, chocolate flavour inside, covered with chocolate mellt and chocolate rice outside, then decorated with some twin chocolate chips and buttercream. Allysa's 6th Birthday

Yesterday was Allysa's @ Kika 6th birthday. She is Linda's daughter, my new customer. I baked 2 nos. of 2.5kg cakes and 75 pieces cupcakes for them.

The first cake, a moist-chocolate cake is to be cut at Allysa's school. Linda wanted the cake with Minnie Mouse icing image, but the ready-made image was not available at any bakery ingredients shop I know. To fullfill Linda's request on Minnie mouse image, I draw on the cake by using buttercream, but the result not so nice. Maybe because the cartoon itself, with black color on dark-chocolate cake. Feeling unsatisfy with the result, I sms Linda, asking if she will mind if I change the Minnie Mouse image with Barbie. Thanks to Linda, as she said no problem. So I remove the buttercream, and place it with Barbie ready-made image.

The second cake was an ice cream cone cake. It was made from vanilla sponge cake with fresh cream, ice cream cone and Ariel, the little Mermaid image. The image made from buttercream and piping jelly. I have been told that the cake to be cut at Allysa's birthday party at their home.

In addition to that cakes, Linda also ordered in total of 75 pieces cupcakes. The cupcakes deco were in cartoon character. I was in very rushing, and kelam kabut condition, because I bake them at the night before the big day, and took hours to finish the decoration. I was working hard on it until the next morning, and guess what... I forgot to take the pics of that cupcakes. Luckily, I got the similar pictures, which I took last month at the very first time I practice them. For Allysa's birthday, I baked in total of 75 cupcakes, and put each of them into individual container because Allysa gonna give them to each of her friend at Sunshine Kindergarten. The cartoon cupcakes were in form of Spiderman, Ultraman, Ladybirds, Sponge Bob, and Kitty, 15 pieces for each design.

Hi.. My older sister just celebrated her birthday yesterday, and as usual, my family member will normally order their birthday cake from me. Well, I have to admit that I got excellent family support on my home-baked cakes business. Thanks sisters...

Cherry anyone? Do you like to eat cherry? Just wanted to share with you, that my sister have a lot of cherries on her birthday. I put in total of 26 maraschino cherries on her cake. I dipped some of the cherries into chocolate melt, so there are 2 color of cherries, red and chocolate. The cake was in her favorite white and green color.

It's a moist chocolate cake, layered with chocolate inside, while the decoration made from fondant (for wording and flower), twin chocolate chips, marashino cherries and buttercream (for flowers and leaves). The cake itself (not including the board) weighted at about 2.7 kilograms.

My sister birthday party was held at Tanjung Aru 3rd beach, and she invited a lot of her friends. In fact, she is a shop owner, so she closed her shop for the whole day, and invite all her workers and her close customers to the beach.

The cake is big and long, and should be enough for everyone, but I am not sure about the cherries..Emm.. I don't think the cherries are enough for everyone... I should put more cherries... maybe next time...

Hi... It was a short and kelam-kabut weekend I had this father's day. At first, I only have 3 cake & cupcakes orders for this father's day. They should be done by Saturday morning. In fact, it was Aie's (Momoi's daughter) birthday party on Saturday afternoon. I was planning to bring my niece to the party because hubby was on duty, when Momoi called me on Friday night. She is really on emergency situation, and need my help to make 60 pieces Father's Day cupcakes for her customers. She was desperately need my favor, as she has few other orders, and at the same time has to bake a birthday cake for her daughter. She asked me to bring the cupcakes to the birthday party. Oh my... I am not sure can do or not, but how can I refuse a request from a dear friend? So I promised her, I will do my best.

Well, to tell you the truth, I can't make it. I tried to finish them overnight, but still cannot finish them, because, I still have to make cupcakes for my own customer. I took a short nap at about 5 o'clock at the morning, and wake up at 8.30 as I have clinic appointment at 9.30 a.m. I return home at about 12.00 noon, and continue with Momoi's cupcakes. I finished them at about 4.30, and quickly get ready to A's cottage, the venue of Aie's birthday party. I dropped by my sister's house to pick up my niece. The event should be from 3.00 to 5.00 pm, as stated in the invitation card, but we reach A's cottage at about 5.10. Luckily the party is still on...

This cupcakes order came from a new customer, Cikgu Rosnani. She is a teacher of Sekolah Kebangsaan Petagas. She ordered 20 pieces cupcakes with alphabet SELAMAT HARI BAPA in each cupcake. I delivered the cupcakes yesterday, and we met at the school. It's my old school, with new environment with few new building here and there. Back to year 1982 - 1987, I studied there in my 6-years primary school. Oh.. My old school... Oppss.. I am getting sentimental already....

Ok, here are the cupcakes for Cikgu Rosnani... Vanilla flavour, decorated with buttercream and piping jelly...

She ordered 20 pieces of cupcakes, but the gift box fits only 16 pieces, so I put the rest in a small plastic container.

I have 3 cakes and cupcakes order for this coming father's day. I baked the first one last night. It's came from my regular customer which is our lady cleaner in my workplace, Aishah. She wanted the cupcakes early, because she stay far from my area. So I brought the cake and cupcakes to the office this morning.

She ordered 1 kg moist chocolate cakes and 30 pieces cupcakes. Thanks Kak Aishah.

I have 1 more moist chocolate cake order, and a 20-pieces cupcakes, and am going to bake them tonight, will post the pictures by tomorrow,

A Week Summary: Cake of the week!

Assalammualaikum and Salam sejahtera.

It's been a week since my most recent posting. I didn't bake any cake but moist chocolate cakes! The orders came from friends and neighbors. I baked quite a number of moist chocolate cakes during this week, and they are not only for birthday , but also for self-treat, to eat with family member. I didn't take many pictures because most of them look just the same. My top-selling cake is the one with simple decoration, a 500gm moist chocolate cake with chocolate melt topping, with some chocolate rice. I can’t tell how many moist chocolate cakes that I baked since my day 1. People love to eat moist chocolate cake. Are they chocoholic-type or they just want to try that cake? I am not sure which the main reason is, or maybe because I sell them at below RM15 for 500gm, so eveyone afford to buy one? Whatever it is, I am happy if they love it. Million thanks for those who ordered.

There's another story. Yesterday I bought a new 7-litre mixer for myself. I have consulted myself for hundreds times, before I come at this buy-decision. My existing 2-liter mixer just can't help me, when it comes to large number of order at the same time. I bought that mixer from Sincere Bakery shop, and in complement of that purchase, I was entitled to attend a 3-hours baking course at Sincere Cooking and Baking School at no fee. The class taught by Mrs Nancy Lim. She is really a good instructor as I gained so much baking knowledge from the class. There are 15 participant and we learnt 5 types of cakes, such as Carrot Cheese cake, Butter Sponge cake, Egg White Zebra cake, Queen of Sheeba and Black Beauty cake. What a wonderful class. It’s a fun, yet useful class. I promised to myself to attend some other courses from her in future.

I baked 2 cakes last Saturday, a chocolate sponge cake and a moist chocolate cake. It was my brother-in-law's birthday, husband to my younger sister, Lela. My sister ordered 2 cakes, one to cut at my sister's place, while another one for her in-law's place.

Moist-Choc. Cake with fresh cream, maraschino cherries,

while wording and flowers made from fondant.

Like usual, my moist-chocolate cake is a must in any birthday for my family member, they just love it. I can't remember how many moist-chocolate that I have baked until today.

Chocolate Sponge cake with fresh cream and choc. rice

Another cake I baked was a chocolate sponge cake. What I do was, cut the cake into 2 layer and put melted chocolate and chocolate rice, between layers. Then cover the cake with fresh cream, and finished by chocolate rice. Sound easy, isn't it?

Sponge cake is one of most used cake in baking. A plain sponge cake can be transformed to variety types of cake. There's hundreds decorated cakes we can find from internet, just use your imagination and a bit of creativity. You can even come out with your new, own decorated cake. Let's try.. Happy baking :)

It's School Holiday! Character Cupcakes for Children

Salam to everyone...

It's a boring, long weekend for me. Hubby got to work overtime, for about 1 - 2 weeks, everyday, from morning to mid night. Luckily, it's school mid-term break, so I brought my 10-years old niece, Jollyna to stay with me, for a Cuti-cuti Malaysia, 3 days 2 nights at my place... What are the programs? Day 1= baking... Day 2= baking hehehe... Day 3? No more baking today. I am planning to bring her to town, for jalan-jalan and makan angin, before I send her back to my sister's place this afternoon. She was accompanying me by sitting there in the living room, doing whatever she want to do, most of the time watching TV, reading her story books, and sleeping... At least, there's someone I can talk to, to gaduh-gaduh with... :)

We baked some cakes and cupcakes last 2 nights, but I am not posting the cakes yet, cupcakes first because I want to show Jollyna, our cupcakes pictures are already in the internet. As a matter of fact, someone named Linda, (my customer to be) asked me about cupcakes with cartoon image for her daughter's birthday next month. What a coincidence! I was planning to bake some cupcakes for children here... I can try that cartoon character ...

Simple Vanilla / Chocolate Cupcakes for Kenduri Doa Selamat

These cupcakes ordered by my regular customer, Aishah. She used to order my cupcakes twice, once for her husband's birthday, and once on recent Mother's Day.

Last time, she ordered 2 types of cupcakes; vanilla with full butter cream, and chocolate with chocolate melt topping plus butter cream deco. But for this time round, she wanted simple cupcakes with less butter cream, for kenduri ceremony.

She reminded me yesterday, "Jangan penuh krim ah... Simple-simple ja, ini untuk makan-makan masa kenduri saja. Hari tu, orang macam nda' sanggup makan, diaorang cakap, kalau cantik begini, untuk perhiasan saja..." Emm... That's funny one... Kelakar juga diaorang ni...

So, Kak Aishah, as promised, this time, not so much cream, simple one, different from last time.

Birthday Cakes: Moist Chocolate & Barbie- Doll Butter Cake

Last night I baked 2 moist chocolate cakes and a Barbie doll butter cake for my neighbour's cousin. I can't remember the name of June's cousin, but I remembered she told me that 3 of their kids are going to celebrate their birthday party together. The party will be held by this evening, May 25th, which is Aisyah's birthday, but her brothers Suhail and Mohd Adib will also celebrate their belated birthday together, which fall in the same month. They took my cake's catalog home, and chose their own cake design based on that catalog.

Let's us see the kids’ choices...

Cake # 1 : Moist Chocolate Cake with White & Dark Chocolate

This moist chocolate cake with white chocolate decoration is for Suhail. I prefer to call this cake as "All Chocolate Cake" or "a truly Chocolate cake". The cake itself, is a moist-chocolate cake, then decoration consist of melted chocolates, both dark and white chocolate, plus chocolate chip and twin chocolate chip, and finished by a chocolate wafer sticks and flowers.

Cake # 2:

Moist Chocolate Cake with almond, chocolate rice & Butter Cream

Another moist chocolate cake is for the older brother, Mohd Adib. He asked for almond and chocolate rice for the decoration, and wanted the cream in white and blue color. So I decorated the cake with almond slices in flower style, and then sprinkle the cake with chocolate rice and almond nib.

Cake # 3: Barbie Doll / Chocolate Butter Cake

The third cake is for their daughter, Aisyah. Aisyah chose Barbie doll cake for herself, which normally I made from butter cake. But they want moist chocolate cake and to be decorated with butter cream. Normally, for moist chocolate cake, should be decorated by chocolate topping, not butter cream. After some discussion with June, I decided to bake butter cake with chocolate flavor to fulfill their demand on chocolate cake. The doll's skirt made from butter cake, but I alter the round-shape cake under the doll. First, I cut the cake into 2 layers and put melted chocolate with chocolate chips and chocolate rice in between. Only then I decorate the cake with butter cream.

The father of that birthday's kids came to my home at about 1 p.m. to collect the cakes. I saw 2 little girls inside his car when I put one of the cakes into the car trunk. I try to talk to both of them and asked " Siapa yang hari jadi hari ni?" "Dia. Dia ni yang hari jadi" said one of the girls while pointing her little finger to the other one. The girl looks at me, smiling... "Selamat hari Jadi...” I wish to that girl which I was pretty sure named Aisyah.

I was smiling, when the car left my neighbour June and I. I was talking to myself ... Wow... The birthday boys and girl must be very happy today... The party must be kind a big party with three cakes of their own choices, when, June suddenly asks me... "Mana kek si Jijah pula?" Jijah is our next, next door neighbour. What? Has she ordered? Oppss!...Why can't I remember? “Ada kan... aku bagitau... sekali dengan 3 kek ni?" Opss.... Oh my God! I am getting older...

Baking Again!

Ehemm... Excuse me, guys, I am not quitting from baking arena yet :)

I'll make comeback by this weekend, hehehe... with more cakes, as I have 3 cakes order in my list. I am going to bake 2 moist-chocolate cakes and a barbie-doll cake. All for children. Tungguu...

Happy Teacher's Day

Friday, May 16th:

For those who had read my older post on teacher’s day cupcakes, knew that I have promised my niece, Jollyna to bake some cupcakes for her teachers this teacher’s day. I have promised her on Tuesday. I was okay at that time and I was confident that I will be able to bake cupcakes for her. Unfortunately, I got a fever by Wednesday; I was in sick leave on that day and only come to work on Thursday. However I am still sick. How am I supposed to bake any cake in this condition? Well, promise is still a promise. I still remember how excited she was when I told her that I am going to bake cupcakes for her teachers. I don’t want to let her down. I don’t want to break my promise.

Well, despite of having fever, I baked some cupcakes for Jollyna last night. After I done the decoration of the cupcakes, I put each of them into a mug. Then I wrap them like a hamper, and tie them with a ribbon and small greeting card.

It was already 1 o’clock in the morning, when I finished all the wrapping. My tears flowed on my cheeks during that time. Not because I was sad! I wasn’t sad because I have to do all this. I was not sad, really. I was just not feeling well. I was in headache. I was in pain. I quickly finished the thing, took some medicines, and went to bed at about 1.30 a.m. I got up as early as 5 am, and then went to my sister’s house to deliver the gifts.

p.s : To my niece Jollyna, well girl, you will grow up someday for sure. At that time, if I am not here, in this world, do remember this: you had an aunty who loves and cares you just like if you are her own daughter.

Emmm... what to bake eh? I was thinking about cupcakes for my 10-years old niece, Jollyna, for her to give to her teachers... I called her just now, through my sister's cellphone, and luckily she is still at home. Her agama's school starts at 2.00 p.m. Here are the conversations:

Self: Girl, how many teachers do you have in your school?

Jollyna: Kalau sekolah melayu, soo mannny... tak boleh kira... (Opss.. wrong question)

Me: Eh.. How many yang ajar you only bah... (I try to rephrase my question)

Jollyna: 4 orang (Nasib baik... 4 teachers only.. hehehe.. sikit ja tu.. then I better ask about the other school)

Me: Kalau sekolah agama, how many? Yang ajar saja tau.... (Cheh.. this is the right question, hehehe...)

Jollyna: Semua pun ajar... (Opss again... )

Me: How many? (continue ask, but.. please.. not so many... please)

Jollyna: 4 ustaz + 1 ustazah.. (Phew....)

Me: Okay.. So, 4 + 5 orang ja lah.. Kalau auntie nda busy, auntie buat cupcakes, u give to your teachers this Hari Guru.. Kalau nda' sibuk lah.. okay?

200 Chocolate Cupcakes Project

Hi.. This is my last night baking project. 200 pieces of chocolate cupcakes for my auntie Jojie.

Pheww.. I baked more than 200 pieces in total. In fact, this is my biggest cupcakes project so far, and I did it alone, except for the sticker, which my hubby assist me in sticking them on the bottom of each container. My mission accomplished at about 3 o'clock in the morning...

My auntie ordered these chocolate flavour, with chocolate topping cupcakes for being door-gift for their kenduri ceremony tonight. I dropped by her office this morning to deliver the cupcakes, on the way to my work place.

I was very busy a couple of days before, as I have to finish my hand-made wedding cards for Mummy Aby. In fact, it’s for his brother in law’s wedding this coming 1st June. Still, I cannot rest off my baking, as I received 2 cakes order from my neighbor, June. It’s for her friend actually, who wants to celebrate mother’s day earlier plus her friends’ sharing birthday. So I baked a marble cheese cake coated with chocolate rice and a moist chocolate cake.

I tried to bake and to finish them as fast as I can, then continue with my wedding cards project again.

May 1st - It was a public holiday, in conjunction with Labour Day. I nearly forgot that we have to join my brother-in-law and his family for a picnic at Tanjung Aru beach when my hubby remind me the night before. So that night, I baked some moist chocolate cupcakes to bring to the picnic.

I also baked a moist chocolate cake with Barbie image, for the girls, my nieces.

We meet my brother in law, Yusof, and his wife sis Midah, and their 3 daughters Anis, Nurin and Nurul at about 11 a.m. It was so interesting and fun gathering as we are not often meeting them as both of them are working, career parents. (click for more pictures and story about the picnic)

Birthday Surprise!

Salam and Good day!

Today is Wednesday, 30th April and it is my birthday. My hubby has been asking me since last week to take 1 day off, so we can celebrate my birthday. In fact, he already got his leave approved. However, due to month end closing, and submission to HQ (I am in Finance Department), I can do nothing but to refuse hubby’s suggestion, and told him that we can celebrate it on the next day, as 1st May is public holiday in conjunction with Labour Day.

When I reached the office this morning, I go straight to my cubical, and immediately start my work. I must finished my closing by the afternoon, then proceed to the management account report, before I can submit them to KL via email. My colleague Mrs. Jordan approached and informed me that she and Mummy Aby have to go to town as they have things to settle. I said okay, as I am not going anywhere, but to stay in the office. I just continue my closing while our Domestic Manager, Momoi (unofficial title we gave her) busy with her job. She is our receptionist cum admin clerk (in fact, cum operator, cum assistant to 3 departments i.e Marketing, Admin & HR and Finance) in the company.

When Mrs. Jordan and Mummy Aby come back to the office a couple of hours later, they come straight to my work station with so many stuff and .. Surprise! They surprised me with birthday wishes and presents! I got a "fruit cakes" and presents from three of them.

Mrs. Jordan, Mummy Aby and Momoi, THANKS... I am really surprised and touched with these.

The surprise then continues when they told me that we are going to have our lunch at @mosphere, a revolving restaurant in Yayasan Sabah, near our office. Today is so meaningful day for me, as I am not used to get any birthday surprise like this. I used to get birthday wishes from friends and family member, but only my hubby will give me present and only with him I celebrate the day. Guys, Thank you so much… I had great day today, the presents and the lunch (have to visit Mrs. Jordan, Mummy Aby and Momoi’s blogs as they had posted pictures of our lunch there)

I had a headache this morning, and planned to take a full-day rest today. It was Sunday, and there's no cake's order today. Well... It's just out of my planning, when my sister call me at about 9 a.m, while I am taking rest in front of TV in our living room.

She said "Hey, what are you doing. Along called last night, and we are going to celebrate Along's birthday this afternoon, here"

Oh...Oh... Along (Azrul Azmie) is one of my nephew, he is staying at his mom house at Sepanggar, his birthday was on last Thursday, and we thought that he already celebrated his birthday over there).

"Are you going to bake any cake?" My sis asked me.

"I have cupcakes here, extra from Babu Gayah's cupcakes. Maybe I can decorate them for Along's birthday" I quickly reply, in fact, it was an answer...as.. (No. I am not going to bake any cake...)

"Is it suitable for birthday party? How is he going to cut the cake?" I think my sister actually knew my situation (she saw me fall asleep when we were in my auntie's place yesterday),

when she then added “It’s ok then, I will tell mom, maybe can buy a cake from the bakery"

I think my headache was suddenly gone, when I automatically answered: "No... Don’t. I'll bake a simple cake. I will bring this afternoon" I then rushed to my kitchen...

Here the cake, a simple sponge cake, with chocolate cream, decorated with Spiderman image, some chocolate chips and butter cream.

I also decorated some cupcakes for the party. The cupcakes actually already baked, extra from my auntie's wedding cupcakes. It was very simple, and plain... As you can see, I don't even put cream most of them.

I put some into container, as a door gift for the children to bring home.

I baked almost 200 pieces of vanilla cupcakes yesterday, but I only managed to decorated 100 pieces of them for my auntie's wedding. I feel so tired and exhausted when I tried to finish the cream, topping work. So.. I only managed to decorate half of them.

In fact, few weeks ago, my auntie told me to bring Jijah, one of my cousin home to assist me on my cupcakes baking. I refused the offer, as I knew they will also busy on the night before wedding.

The baking itself, took hours while decorating stuff took another hours. Here are the cupcakes for my auntie's wedding, Rugayah and her fiancee Azlain. I used white and blue turquoise color for base, and simply decorated them with their initial R & A.

I put the cupcakes in small round container, and put Thank You sticker on the container.

I then put the cupcakes into 2 boxes, 50 pieces each.
When I came to my auntie's place, I tried to make a thousand apologies to my auntie because I knew it wouldn't enough to give away. She said it's ok, as they have other goodies to give, and the cupcakes only for limited guests. She then told me one thing, the thing that she already told me before... She said "Why don't you bring Jijah last night? She is not busy here last night.." I answered this... "It's ok bah.. I don't want to bother you all.." (But.. note to myself: Next time, just accept any offer for asistance)... by the way.. to my auntie and her husband: Happy Wedding Day!

Last Night (Baking) Project

Salam to all, and Good Day!

I baked 2 cakes last night, a moist-chocolate cake with Mickey Mouse image, and a yam cake with Naruto's character. I have no problem on chocolate cake, as they are most popular and mostly ordered by my customer, so I have been baked them for hundreds times. Here the cake;

To bake the yam cake, also caused me no trouble, as I have already tried them few times before this. Except for the decoration and the shaping and drawing the Naruto, I took hours to think and shaping the cake. I am not good in drawing actually, and for that, I have already asked my hubby to help me on it. He promised that he will help me last night. However, by the time my cakes cool down and ready to be decorated, I saw my hubby fall asleep in front of TV in our living room. I dare not to wake him up, as he looks so tired. Well... I have no choice but to try by myself, guided by a picture that I printed from the Internet yesterday... Here they are:-

Thank God, the result is not too bad, as this is my first try, but promise to myself to try again next time and improve some more. Well, last night project already completed and delivered, but I have another project tonight. A project of 150 pieces cupcakes for my auntie’s wedding... Hopefully everything will be ok, for tonight baking project :-)

Salam to you, and Good Day!

It's Wednesday night. No baking activity for tonight but there are 2 orders waiting in my list for tomorrow night. I have 1kg yam cake, and another 1 kg of chocolate cake to be bake and to be delivered by Friday. What's more…? I have to bake 150 pieces of vanilla cupcakes for my auntie’s wedding on this Saturday. Wow... that's a lot.. meaning... I will not available until Sunday. My schedule for the next 3 days supposes to be like this:-

Thursday night = 2 types of cakes; Yam cake and Chocolate cake
Chocolate cake to be decorated with Mickey Mouse image (suppose to be no problem)
The yam cake supposes to be shaped and decorated by Naruto’s image. I never try Naruto cake, but promised to try and do my best…

Friday night = 150pcs of vanilla cupcakes. I used to bake some cupcakes on my sister’s wedding last year, and now, my auntie wants the same cupcakes for her wedding too…

Saturday = have to attend my auntie’s wedding (There’s no waiting order for Sunday, so far)

Vanilla flavour cupcakes, with fresh cream & maraschino cherries

It was electricity-down for almost entire of Sabah state yesterday. I arrived home at about 7.30 p.m. and still no electricity. I have cupcakes order for my regular customer. I then phone my sister to inform that I might not be able to bake any cake in this case, but will see how if got electric soon. The customer must be so lucky, when the lamps in my house turn on at about 9.00 o’clock. I then rush to my kitchen.

I was measuring the ingredients, when the black-out comes again. Oh no! I can't believe this! Give up with the situation, plus don't know what to do, I then take a nap, while my hubby taking rest in our living room.

It’s about 10.30 o’clock when hubby wakes me up and the electricity come back again. I immediately rush to the kitchen again...

Hi.. I have just finished preparing lunch for my hubby, and now waiting for him to return from work. He has to work 1/2 day overtime today. I have baked a carrot cake, while watching tv (Akademi Fantasia) last night (luckily, my hubby install a 14" tv in our kitchen for me when we move in). In fact, I did bake one last week, and wanted to bake another carrot cake this weekend.

I wanted to bring this cake to my sisters place, this afternoon, to share with my nieces & nephews there. I cut a slice, for photography purpose, then put it back, and then cover the cut with the cream. Never mind the cut inside, I just want it looks perfect for the kids :) after all, we are going to cut it again over there :)

It’s a Thursday night, just one more day toward weekend. I am not going to bake any cake tonight, so I can take a rest and do my blogging :) It’s a high time in my workplace, as we have submission paper for our next B.O.D meeting. In fact, my colleagues and I have to stay back few hours in the office, after work. I arrived home quite late for this week, but it’s doesn’t mean that I had full rest time at night.

Yeah, I did bake some cupcakes on Monday and Tuesday, and a cake on Wednesday (last night). Normally, I only take order on weekend, I am telling you... It’s not that I am so excited doing my baking, but I had 3 cakes orders for 3 days, which I don't know how to refuse.

Monday night: 30 pieces cupcakes

Last Monday, at my office, our lady cleaner approached me, and told me that she wanted to order some cupcakes. It's hard for me to agree, but at the same time, it’s hard to refuse either. She told me, that the cupcakes is for someone's birthday, today, and she supposed to order earlier on Sunday, but she doesn't has my phone number. She then told me that the birthday person loves cupcakes so much, that's why she wanted to give cupcakes. She didn't tell me who is she or he, but from the way she told me, (from her glowing face..), I can presume that's her husband! Oh... how sweet, I told myself. It's too sweet... and touched my heart. You guys, tell me, how am I suppose to say no?

Here's a-30 pieces mixed vanilla & chocolate cupcakes. I put them in 2 separate containers, 15 pieces each.

When I arrived home, that Monday night, I got a phone call from my sister. What a coincidence! Her friend wanted to order cupcakes too. I told her that I can't take that order, as I am so tired, and I have to bake cupcakes for other customer. "Pleaseee, my friend really wants the cupcakes, if you can't deliver it tomorrow, she doesn't mind to have it by the day after tomorrow." My sister tries to coax me... and... Here the cupcakes...

Tuesday night:

20 pieces mixed cupcakes plus 7 pieces extra for my hubby's cellogues.

To tell you the truth, I didn't get any phone call from any of my customer on Wednesday. However, this butter cake is already in my order list since weeks ago. She is my sister's colleagues, and she is now my regular customer. She was reminding me this, "Please don't forget, my mother's birthday on 17th." She reminds me twice, a couple of weeks ago. 17th is on Thursday, so I have to bake them on Wednesday night!

I saw the picture of sunflower cupcakes from flikr months ago, and wanted to try. The result however, is not like expected. They are not like sunflower, and I am so upset and unsatisfied. I received a phone call yesterday, from someone who wanted to order a moist chocolate cake. In fact, she just wants a simple choc. cake, but we had a long conversation on it. Here's the conversation,

Caller: How much the price for 1kg of your chocolate cake is?

Me: RM20, for plain choc. cake, but additional RM2-3 for cream and decoration.

Caller: How about 1/2 kg, is it RM10?

Me: Em.. yeah, but with cream, it will be about RM13-RM15. It's depend on decoration (I explained and tried to make it clear)

Caller: It's okay, I dont want any cream either, just simple choc. cake.

Me: If that the case, RM10 for 1/2 kg, while RM20 for 1kg.

Caller: How big the 1/2 kg? It's just for makan-makan. 1kg maybe too big for us (she still can't make up her mind)

Me: 1/2kg it's not too big, just enough for 3 to 5 person. I suggest you take RM15. (At this point, I tried to make a deal between RM10 & RM20)

Caller: Can I have RM15 cake? How much kg it will be?

Me: It's about 700gm..

Caller: Ok, I want that 700gm. I will take it tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock.

Me: Ok, no problem. Bye.

Phew.... Finally I am done with my hand-made cards posting. I received a call from someone this afternoon, she wanted to order a simple moist chocolate cake and she is going to self pick up by tomorrow morning at 9.00 o'clock.

I am going to bake the cake tonight, after dinner, and if I have time, maybe will bake some moist chocolate cupcakes after that. I am planning to go Gaya Street, KK tomorrow, and will drop by my sisters' place. Maybe I can bring the cupcakes for them. I have also plan to make some cakes in the afternoon, but I don't know what types of cake yet. I am thinking about carrot cake, or yam cake.. yet to decide.... emmm... (still thinking....)

Jollyna's Birthday

I always admire to see that long happy smiley face of a birthday kid, even though as I remember, I never celebrate any of my birthday during my childhood. I think children these days are far fortunate than me when I was at their age. Among that lucky children, absolutely my nieces and nephews as their birthday will be always celebrated, even though it's not a grand one, but a small cake will good enough to cheer them up :)

My beloved niece, Jollyna celebrated her 10th birthday on recent March 6, 2008. It's fall on Thursday, so we postponed her birthday party on Saturday, March 8.

I baked 2 moist-chocolate cakes, one with Barbie image.

A Cocktail Fruit Cake Story

I was busy with my hand-made wedding invitation cards for my auntie, and already delivered about 500 pieces to her house last week. I was in my office when she called me this morning, and asked for another 20 pieces additional cards, and need them urgently. 20-pieces cards are not a matter to me, as it can be done in an hour, but to deliver to her house, after work, at night, that's the problem.

Then I got a quick solution to my problem, that she will pick-up from my sister's house by tomorrow morning. So I ring my younger, teacher sister, here's the conversation:

Me: Sis, can u please come to my house tonight? I have some invitation cards here, Babu Gayah will pick up from your place tomorrow.

My Sis: Eh... Umm... I am not sure...

Me: I'll bake you a cake.

My sis: Okay! I'll be there by 11!

So, I arrived home at about 7.30 pm, take a quick shower and start baking. It’s a simple sponge cake with cocktail fruits. While waiting the cake to cook then cool down, I do my auntie's cards. I finished the cake decoration just a few minutes before 11 o’clock.

Strawberry Cakes: Butter Cake vs. Sponge Cake

I baked strawberry layered cakes some time in February or March, and wanted to bake them again, this weekend. Last time, I used butter cake with strawberry filling, decorated with some butter cream.

But for this time around, I wanted to use sponge cake and strawberry puree, while fresh cream for the decoration. I baked one on Saturday night, but I was out of gelatin powder. Therefore I used plain whipped cream mixed together with strawberry. Here’s the output :(

Unsatisfied with the result, I went to Sincere (bakery supplies) on Sunday afternoon and bought a packet of gelatin powder and baked another strawberry cake at the night, plus a blueberry layered cake used the same cream .

Syukur.... the output is not bad, as this is my trial. I finished at about 1 o’clock in the morning, and took another half an hour to cut them into slices, put into 8 separate containers and labelled each container. They are for my 3 closed-neighbors, 2 for my hubby’s colleagues, 1 for my sister and the remaining 2 containers for my own office (1 for technical department and 1 for admin).

Nowadays, cupcakes come with variety of design, decorations and colors, and they are often referring to the kids. If you ask my niece, Jollyna, which one is her favorite, certainly any design with chocolate will be her answer. If you ask further, why? She will definitely answer, BECAUSE I LOVE CHOCOLATE!! There are hundreds of flavors and decoration of cupcakes to choose from, and I am just wondering, maybe some time, I can do a questionnaire about cupcakes, and let the children be the majority part of respondent, and let see what they are going to say :)

For me, to decorate a two-kilogram of cake is easier than cupcakes. Untuk mendapatkan hasil yang memuaskan memerlukan ketelitian dan kesabaran yang lebih. Namun begitu, minat dan keseronokan menghias cupcake mengatasi segalanya. Rasa puas bila tengok muka berseri si anak kecil sewaktu menerima cupcake masing-masing.

Kebetulan juga, salah seorang adik Sai adalah guru sekolah rendah, melaluinya Sai berpeluang mengirim cupcakes dengan pelbagai rupa dan warna.

Sai selalu juga browse gambar-gambar cupcakes yang ada di internet, ya ampun, hebatnya, cantik-cantik belaka, cute sangat-sangat, pelbagai bentuk dan rupa dan macam-macamlah. Sai salute mereka yang membuatnya kerana Sai tahu ianya memerlukan ketelitian, kemahiran, kesabaran, kesenian, dan segala macam ke- lagi lah.

By the way, di sini Sai publishkan beberapa cupcake yang telah Sai hasilkan. Sai akui, decoration yang Sai buat tidaklah sehebat yang dihasilkan oleh orang lain, dan Sai masih cuba memperbaikinya. Buat masa ni, ni je yang baru Sai buat, sudilah tengok-tengok, dan jangan lupa komennya ya :)

It was Thursday night, a day to go before the weekend. It's about 9.30 p.m., and I am just about to sit in front of my pc, and start type something about my collection of recipe books and how to choose a good one, when my phone rung. It was my sister who wanted to order 30 pieces of cupcakes. In fact, it was ordered by her colleague since that morning but my sis forgot to inform me. She is going to self-pick up by next early morning. What a short-noticed order! I tried to reject the order, but, I can't coz my sister already confirmed to her friend. I rushed to my kitchen and start baking, let them to cooling down, then decorating. The mixed-vanilla flavour cupcakes then to be divided into two parts. 2o pieces in a box and another 10 pieces to be put in a gift box, as she wanted to give to someone. It's already about 2 a.m., when I finished the packaging and cleaned my work-station, and slowly went up to my bed, take a few hours nap... Luckily it was a Friday, last weekday :), WELCOME WEEKEND…

Today is Saturday, and I wish I can bake more cakes during the weekend. In fact, last night I baked a moist chocolate cake ordered by my sister which to be given to one of my younger sister. In addition, I also baked some cupcakes, as a birthday gift from myself.

I have planned to bake some new cakes by this weekend, but I am not really sure whether they can be done or not. In fact, I have a couple of things to be settled by this weekend, and hopefully can do tomorrow :(

Basic Cake Decorating: Decorate Your Own Cake

Hi everyone. I am not an expert in cake decorating, and I am a self-learning through media mass like books and magazines, television’s program, trial & error, not to mention thousands of knowledge from the internet. With today's technology, it's only a matter of to-learn or not-to-learn.

Can you decorate a cake of your own? I have found that the easiest way to learn and practice cake decorating for a beginner is as simple as the following 1-2-3 steps:-

1) Buy a plain, round sponge cake, or a dozen of plain butter cupcakes.

For butter cream decoration:-
2(a) in a bowl, mix 1/2 part of butter with 1 part of icing sugar. Mix them well by adjusting the amount (if it too soft, add a bit of icing or vice versa) until you get a suitable mix.

Or, for chocolate topping decoration:-
2(b) chop 1 part of cooking chocolate, and melt them use double-boiling method and then put 1/3 part of fresh milk. Mix them well until you get a chocolate sauce.

3) Put the butter cream or chocolate sauce on top of you cake or cupcakes, and decorate them with any decoration that you want to put.

For example:
3(a)you can put some butter cream in a small plastic, make a small hole, and you are ready to decorate you cake
3(b) for chocolate topping, just add a sprinkle of icing sugar, chocolate rice etc.

These basic decorating is for testing and practising only. Search for cake pictures, and get your own idea. Once you are ready, try to find a simple butter cake recipe, and you are ready to bake and decorate your own cake. Happy Decorating :)

Semua orang tentu ada memori tersendiri tentang mula-mula membuat kek kan? Begitu juga dengan Sai. Tersenyum Sai seketika, kerana Sai terbayang-bayang semula time Sai tinggal di hostel masa sekolah menengah dulu, teringat pada beberapa orang kakak senior yang pernah mengajak Sai sama membuat biskut, juga pada resepi kek pertama yang diajar oleh mak.

Ceriteranya gini, masa Sai tinggal di hostel, time sekolah menengah dulu, masa tu kalau tak silap, form 1 or 2, dan kebetulan cuti panjang, kebanyakan pelajar balik kampung masing-masing. Beberapa orang kakak senior masa tu rapat dengan warden hostel, dan diaorang boleh pinjam oven cikgu tu :).

Kak Jah, Kak Mimie, Kak Jer dan Kak Sauyah adalah nama-nama senior satu dorm, yang Sai ingat selalu ada aktiviti baking ni. Masa tu, Sai tolong sikit-sikit ja, dan yang banyaknya tolong tengok-tengok ja :). Dari situlah Sai mula meminati pasal baking ni, dan bila cuti sekolah, time dekat raya, Sai pun mulalah konon praktis buat biskut yang Sai belajar dari senior tu. Tapi Sai buat biskut ja, sebab senang sikit berbanding kek. Mak dan kakak Sai agak terkejut juga dari mana Sai belajar :)

Bila mak nampak Sai berminat buat biskut, dia suruh cuba buat kek pula, tapi Sai cakap Sai tak pandai, dia pun ajar Sai cara buat kek yang paling mudah dan paling senang nak ingat. Kek span yang paling basic. Di sini Sai share dengan kawan-kawan tapi sukatan bahan dan methodnya Sai susun step by step, sama macam yang mak ajar dulu.

Langkah 1:

250gm marjerin (tapi masa tu Sai tak tahu sukatan tu 250gm, mak cuma tunjuk tin planta tu, dan cakap, ikut ja sukatan tin ni )

Langkah 2:

250gm gula castor (masa tu mak cakap, pakai gula kasar, pastu tu blender jadi gula halus, mak pesan juga, lepas keluarkan marjerin, mesti isi gula ikut balik sukatan tin, dan kalau boleh kurangkan sikit, supaya tak manis sangat).

Langkah 3:

(1) dan (2) dipukul bersama, hingga gebu (masa tu takde mixer, kami pakai sudu kayu ja)

Langkah 4:

Then masukkan 5 biji telur, pukul bersama adunan tadi, sampai sebati. (Masa tu mak tunjuk sampai jadi rupa macam ni, jadi Sai hafal lah rupa adunan tu)

Langkah 5:

Guna balik tin tadi, masukkan tepung gandum, campur 1 sudu kecil serbuk penaik.

Langkah 6:

Pukul semua sampai sebati, masukkan dalam loyang dan bakar.

Setelah 2-3 kali cuba buat basic kek ni, dan berjaya, lepas tu mak ajar buat kek marble pula.

+ Langkah 7 (untuk marble cake)

Ambil sebahagian daripada adunan tadi , campur dengan sedikit serbuk koko, atau serbuk milo, pas tu, masa letak adunan ke dalam loyang tu, selang selikan dengan adunan yang ada serbuk koko.

Hi all. My name is Sai, am from Kota Kinabalu, Currently, I am working fulltime in a telecommunication company. Di hari tidak bekerja di ofis, Sai bekerja membuat kek di rumah :)

Actually, dari dulu Sai memang minat sangat dengan aktiviti baking ni, cuma dulu bake untuk ahli keluarga dan jiran ja. Dulu ada juga jiran yang tanya kalau-kalau Sai ambil order, tapi cepat-cepat sai tolak coz buat untuk suka-suka ja.

Anyway, sekarang ni dah lain, dari suka-suka dah jadi minat sangat, so Sai join sini dan nak share baking knowledge & experience dengan kawan-kawan di internet, sambil ceduk ilmu mana-mana yang ada. Sekarang ni, ditambah dengan minat baru, pasal decorating kek pula.

Di samping nak menimba ilmu, Sai sebenarnya nak dedicate this blog untuk customers Sai. Maybe it's easy for them to browse my online catalog, whenever they want to order cake. Juga buat bakal customer, Sai bersedia menerima tempahan bagi pelanggan yang menetap berhampiran dengan tempat tinggal Sai, Taman Jumbo Petagas, dan sekitar Kota Kinabalu.
